If you’re sending cards this holiday season (or any other time for that matter) Carbon-free Cards might be for you. The cards are blank inside and feature some very nice nature photography on the front. What makes them stand out though, as you may have already guessed from the name, is that the cards are produced to be entirely carbon-neutral.

How do they accomplish this feat? Well, one tree is planted per card sold (which will eventually suck down about a ton of CO2, 1200 planted so far) and additional carbon is offsets are purchased through Atmosclear to cover the energy used for printing, paper production and transportation. Carbon-Free Cards don’t stop there though, the cards themselves are printed on EU Eco-Label certified paper and the speckled envelopes are made from Forest Stewardship Council certified paper made from 50% recycled paper and sugar cane pulp. Even the shipping envelope is made from 100% recycled fiber and of course you can recyle the cards when you’re done with them. Finally, the card’s recipient will be treated to a little blurb about the important role of forests in mitigating climate change on the back of each card. Yow! I defy you to find cards greener than this - post in the comments if you can!

I really like these cards, the images look great and they’re printed on sturdy card stock. Nature images are pretty universally well received so it wouldn’t hurt to buy a few and keep them stashed away at the ready. The price is pretty much on par with other cards, CAN $3.50 or US $3.00 with shipping included for orders of six or more. It’s nice that they’re not charging a huge premium for the environmentally friendly aspect, Carbon-free Cards are a good product at a respectable price.

Take me up on my challenge! Let us know about other green card options in the comments!
