You just switched all your lights over to CFLs because you want to live sustainably and save money, but new LED bulbs last five times longer, contain no mercury and they’re twice as efficient. Should you switch again? I got my hands on these LEDs from Eternaleds to see if they live up to the hype. Find out what I thought in this video review:

I liked the Eternaleds bulbs and the light they produced, but the restrictive floodlight form-factor and high initial cost weren’t suffcient to convince me to make the switch. Here’s how I rated them:

The article is in error when it says LED lighting is “twice as efficient” as fluorescent. CFL bulbs run 45-60 lumens/watt; the larger tube fluorescents go up to 100 lumens/watt.

LED lighting at present runs about 60-75 lumens/watt…slightly better than a CFL, but worse than tubes.

    Hi,
I just found your website and I really like it!
    FYI-
You might also want to note that CFL Bulbs contain mercury and should be disposed of properly. Here’s a recent post of mine discussing it.

Looks like they have some good bulbs, but they’re still way too expensive…
