Rechargeable batteries have come a long way in recent years - improvements to capacity and lifespan mean they can cost as little as 10 cents per use. It's a no-brainer, don't use expensive disposables.

Check out Eneloop batteries... Sanyo claims that they are like NiMH, but they don't lose their charge over time. Also, if you are out on the town, they are sold fully charged and ready to use.
